5 Star Reputation – Digital Experts for Independent Dealers

Meet the Clickers – Emily Derbyshire

After a short delay in proceedings, Meet the Clickers is back!

To mark the return I caught up with a previous apprentice of mine and now superstar salesperson, Emily Derbyshire!

Hiya Em! How are we mate? Good to catch up. Could you tell us a bit about your start to Clicker life and how it came about?

“Hi Joe, I’m great thanks and it’s always a pleasure.

Before joining Click I was doing an accounting apprenticeship and working at a local chippy, but I very quickly came to the conclusion that I hate accounting!

I let the agency know and they began looking for people who would take me on as a business admin. Within a week I got an interview with Click Dealer.

My interview was done by yours truly and 15 minutes after leaving the interview I was offered the job!

I was very lucky that everything fell into place at the right time, God knows what would have happened if I’d continued in accounting!”

I’m sure you would have been great wherever you ended up Emily but we’re all glad you’re a Clicker! Great stuff! So recently you made the transition into the Sales team, could you explain what your job involves day-to-day and how it has changed from when you started?

“So I started in the stock copy team where my job role was to transfer all our lovely dealers stock from their old website to their new Click Dealer website and general admin duties. I then moved on to my own role of getting our dealers set up to smash it on our award-winning product ClickEngage.

After doing this for a few months, I expressed to the head of customer care that I think I could make an impact in sales and the rest is history. I now contact all our existing customers to see what we can do to help them make their business as successful as possible.

Whether that be increasing their web traffic with our in-house SEM campaigns, improving their sales process and keeping up with advancing technology with ClickEngage or simply managing and getting more reviews with Click Reputation.”

What did you think you would grow out of but haven’t?

“Kids films. My all-time favourite film is trolls and I’m not ashamed of it. I have the playlist on my phone, a trolls mug, a trolls bag, a troll Easter egg (which I’m refusing to eat) and the DVD. I love all the Despicable Me’s and I cannot wait to watch Incredibles 2!”

If you could turn any activity into an Olympic sport, what would you have a good chance at winning gold for?

“Very tough one, but my biggest talent has got to be napping. I would 100% be a gold medallist in napping. I have a nap almost every day when I get home from work, for at least an hour.

My record for the longest nap/sleep was when I fell asleep when I got home from work at 6:00pm and then woke up at 7:45am the next morning. Very proud moment.”

There are 2 types of people in the world, what are they?

“Carnivores and vegans.”

Rumour has it you thought Baghdad was in Zante, could you tell us why this is?

“Right there’s a very simple and logical explanation for this. Back in the days of my stock copy career, I told the team I’d booked a holiday to go to Zante, you then asked me if I was going to Baghdad.

Everyone started laughing at the joke but I didn’t know why, so I very innocently asked “Is Baghdad in Zante?”

Worst question I have ever asked in my entire life. I don’t think I’ll ever live it down.”

Hahahaha, sensational. You know I love bringing that up, couldn’t resist sorry. If you were hosting a dinner party and could bring three famous people along, who would you choose and why?

“Zac Efron – for very obvious reasons, Ryan Gosling as he’s my favourite actor and Sarah Millican because she’s hilarious.”

Your good friend Ben Wood has told me you have an unhealthy obsession with Mackerel, is this true? Could you eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner?

“I wouldn’t call it unhealthy, it’s just practical. No cooking or prepping involved, just crack the tin open and away you go.

Sometimes I just do it so I can see the reaction from everyone at work when they get a whiff of it.

Chloe’s reaction is probably the best. But yes, I could most definitely eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner.”

What is the hardest thing you have ever done?

“The hardest thing I’ve ever done might have to be the Born Survivor obstacle course I did with work to raise money for Leighton’s Ward 17.

I’m not the most athletic person, so even the running pretty much killed me off never mind the 30 odd obstacles. We all marched through it though, might have taken us three hours to do but hey ho.”

Last but not least, what do you love most about working at Click?

“I love all the opportunities I’ve been given to progress and succeed. When I said I wanted to go into sales, bearing in mind I’ve had no experience whatsoever, everyone in the business supported me.

Anyone within Click Dealer is limitless to what they can achieve and how far they can go in the business. I can’t thank all the Directors, Managers, Lee, Jake and Stu enough for the support I’ve been given.”

Great answer Em, couldn’t agree more with you there.

Well Emily, as always a big thank you for taking some time out of your day to get involved in Meet the Clickers, I hope you enjoyed it!
