Meet the Clickers is back again with Internal Account Assistant Jack Barnett under the spotlight for Episode 68! Here’s what he had to say when we sat down…
Mr Barnett, hope you’re well mate? Could you please start off by telling us all about how you started off here at Click and about your current day to day responsibilities?
Well, I had just finished a Business course at Stafford college and wanted to do something different. I thought that having actual experience would be a better move for me. So, I applied for yourselves through Babington and somehow got the job.
My responsibilities involve invoicing our customers, answering accounts calls, responding to accounts emails etc.
You recently returned for your second stint as a Clicker, after spending a number of months in China. How did that come about?
Whilst I was working here at Click, I was offered a chance to go out to China and work for my Father for a couple of months. I thought it would improve my skills and gain some more experience to add to my CV. So, I went and started to create reports and carry out quality control around factories in China.
What did you miss the most about being in England throughout your time in China?
I did miss the cold weather at some points. Being in constant 30°C heat whilst working absolutely drains you. Food-wise, I can’t lie I was dying for a curry, a full English breakfast and a Sunday roast!
You can’t beat a good Sunday roast. How do you like to relax after a hard day at work?
After a hard day of work, I would probably go to the pub with a couple of mates. Nothing too interesting there.
I recall a story of you purchasing what you called the “Gucci of all sponges” for a ludicrous amount of money, tell us more…
I can’t believe you’re bringing this up! Right so, when I went on holiday to Greece my girlfriend wanted to go on a boat ride around three different Greek islands. I thought why not. As we got to the second island which is called ‘the sponge diving island’ our tour guide took us into an old sponge shop. Then, in the corner was an old man cutting sponges and he told a story about how so many people die from obtaining these sponges. So, I bought a sponge which they called the ‘Gucci of all sponges’ and brought it back with me. However, I haven’t used it and might have lost it. All I’m saying is google it, it’s quite interesting.
£50 for a glorified dish sponge, say no more! What’s your go-to TV series when there’s nothing to watch?
That’s a tough one. I would say either Game Of Thrones or Peaky Blinders.
What is something that you’ll never want to do again?
It’s got to be when I tried the Chinese Durian fruit which smells and tastes like sick. I recommend no one try it.
I think I’ll stick to my Staffordshire Oatcakes… I have heard a few whispers around the office that you have taken the leap and bought a new car this week, what have you gone for?
Well, I have gone for a 2015 Ford Fiesta Zetec S Black Edition. Thought it looked quite nice and went for it.
Very nice, you just need a license to drive it now! A controversial one, favourite Clicker?
Why do you do this to me? That has to be my boss Helene Ward, what an amazing human.
We can’t argue with that, Helene definitely is an absolute gem. Finally, what’s the best thing about working here at Click?
I have to say it’s the atmosphere, everyone gets on with one another. It makes me not dread coming to work every day.
