Episode 66 of Meet the Clickers is here and this week we have Apprentice Web Developer Jamie in the hot seat. He joined me to discuss everything from the internet to wind-up clocks!
Hi Jamie, hope you’re well mate. Could you please tell us a bit about how you first started off at Click?
It was a sort of chance encounter that makes me feel really lucky to be here now. Last summer I was looking for progression from my course at College and I didn’t fancy University (it’s not for everyone.)
I was approached from Newcastle College about the Apprenticeship opportunity here at Click and I thought it would be an enjoyable experience and I could learn more from the hands on experience. So, I got in touch, came to the assessment day and failed to build a wind-up clock with Kuda. Jokes on that clock because we both got the Apprenticeship and are good mates now.
What game or movie universe would you most like to live in?
I’m a pretty big fan of Star Wars but the problem with that and a lot of other games and movies I’m into is that you’ll be up against people like Darth Vader and I reckon I’d be one of the guys that gets taken out in the background doing the Wilhelm scream.
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
Seeing where life takes me. I don’t really plan for the future and I take things each day at a time. There is a couple of things I do aim to do however. I think the main thing is to become a Father that always has a Dad joke up his sleeve. Recently learned this one that you can’t go wrong with: “The people in Dubai don’t like the Flintstones but the people in Abu Dhabi do”.
Everyone loves a good dad joke! If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?
Lie in bed and relax with my eyes closed. Sleep. I’d sleep.
There are two types of people in the world, what are they?
There’s a few ways to go with this one. Tea vs coffee, pineapple pizza vs pepperoni pizza, dogs vs cats. A lot to argue about.
The pineapple pizza issue isn’t a new thing at Click… As the only person left on Earth, what would you do?
Find a cowboy hat and wander off somewhere. It sounds like it could be cool but in reality, I’d probably just end up in Wetherspoons.
How do you like to relax after a hard day of work?
I’m a pretty chill guy and as a result I’ll usually watch shows such as Madmen or Peaky Blinders or play games with my mates. I do like going to the cinema as well, it’s always a winner.
What is something that is considered a luxury, but you don’t think you could live without?
Phones and the Internet. I’m sure I’m not the only one who would struggle if it all just stopped working. I remember having to go without internet for 10 days last year and you really start noticing how boring daytime TV is when the only thing that’s on is Four in a Bed!
I’d be lost without my phone too. Who’s your go-to band or artist when you can’t decide on something to listen to?
Toto, because Africa alone is a masterpiece.
What do you love most about working here at Click?
Everybody says that the people are the best thing about working at Click and while that’s definitely true, I think Click Dealer is a great place for opportunities. I wasn’t sure where to go after college and when I started the process to apply here at Click it just felt like it was right for me.
This place gives options to people who like me, who might not want to go down the traditional path of college, uni, work. I’m definitely learning a lot more than I would be if I went to uni but keep in mind that’s just personal preference. It’s the help and support to do what you want to do that Click provides that is one of the best things about working here. There’s something for everyone at Click.
That’s great Jamie! Click really is one of a kind isn’t it!
