For episode 75 of Meet the Clickers, I sat down with Junior Data Analyst, Sophie Bates. Sophie took to the hot seat to tell us about everything from her love for pineapples to why she turned down the offer of going for a curry with our Head of SEM, Steve Connor! Here’s what she had to say…
Hey Sophie, good to talk to you! How are you? Could you please start off by telling everybody a bit about how you started off here at Click and what you do on a day to day basis?
Hi Ben! Well, I finished uni, I wrote a CV, I applied for a job at Click, I came for an interview, Lyane realised that I’m great, she hired me. That’s exactly how it went down!
Day to day, I spend a lot of time making our CRM functional. I also make a few charts here and there.
Pineapples. What’s the obsession?
Well, they’re yellow and they taste good. They also make great home décor items and if you cut them correctly, you can drink from them. Why would you not love them?
I’ll take your word for it! You’re quite well known around the office for your array of what some might call ‘funky’ jumpers. Tell us a bit about your collection…
They’re so comfy! It’s like walking around in a blanket, which is the dream really.
The shop that sells them went out of business, probably because I was the only one buying them, and I’m rather sad about it.
They probably did you a favour when they closed down. Why did you refuse to go for a curry with our SEM guru, Steve Connor?
That depends on who you ask. Steve claims it’s because I “don’t eat food” but really, I’m just not a fan of curry.
Poor Steve! Lyane has told me that you have built up quite the relationship with our franking machine. Tell us more!
Big Frank’s soothing franking tones are like a lullaby, what’s not to love?
I have no words. What brings you the most joy in life?
Besides Frank’s soothing tones, coffee and naps!
It’s hard to argue with that! If your life was a book, what would the title be and why?
“Oh look, a Star!”
Because I’m always getting distracted.
If you could make one rule that everyone had to follow, what would it be?
Cocktails for breakfast, maybe? (Or does that make me sound like an alcoholic?)
What are your top three things you want to accomplish in life?
I guess I want to own my own house, drive a great car and maybe go sky diving – I don’t think about these things.
Finally, what’s your favourite thing about working here at Click?
This will probably sound really cliché, but everyone’s really friendly!
It is a popular answer, but it is very true! The Clickers are some of the most welcoming and friendliest people that you could ever wish to meet.
A big thanks to Sophie for taking the time out of her data filled day to catch up with me. If you enjoyed this week’s episode, you can catch up on all previous episodes here. If you’re all caught up, be sure to join us next week for episode 76 but as I’ll be sunning it up in Gran Canaria, I’ll be leaving you in the very capable hands of my good friend, Josh Locke!
See you in a few weeks when I’m sunburnt and have eaten too much paella!
