Here at Click Dealer we are passionate about supporting charities – as a company we support Aura and The Dougie Mac – however some of our Clickers also do some of their own fundraising for various charities.
On the 25th February, our Sales Executive, Emily took to the sky to complete a terrifying (in my opinion!) skydive all in the name of raising money for a charity very close to her heart – The Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Since completing her skydive I have caught up with her and we had a chat about her fundraiser and how it felt jumping from the plane!
Hi Emily, why did you choose to do a Skydive for your charity fundraiser?
I’ve always wanted to do a Skydive since I can remember. When looking into it, I thought this would be a fantastic opportunity to raise a bit of money for charity. So I managed to fuel my adrenaline addiction and raise money for a fantastic charity so it was 2 birds with 1 stone really!
I know Cystic Fibrosis Trust is important to you, can you tell me a bit about why you chose them?
My best friend Sarah has suffered with cystic fibrosis all her life and she’s been through years and years of hospital appointments, asthma attacks, scans, blood tests, anti-biotics- you name it. I think CF is a bit of an unknown disease so I wanted to shed light on some of the daily struggles people with CF go through. Sarah is absolutely incredible and raising this money together meant so much to her.
What do the funds mean for the charity?
The money is all going to the Cystic Fibrosis Trust will help continue funding research on the disease and make sure everyone has access to the medical treatments they need. CF can drastically affect a person’s physical and mental health meaning they can’t work full time or need more days off due to illness/ hospital appointments. Of course, with the cost of living crisis, it’s making it near impossible for people with CF to live comfortably without financial support. The funds we have raised will go towards helping individuals and families who are financially struggling as a result of CF.
How did you feel before the jump?
Weirdly enough, I was fine. I slept well the night before and was pretty excited the entire hour and a half drive to the hangar. The only time I became scared was when the plane doors opened!
What was it like free falling through the air?
It’s a strange feeling, you don’t really feel like you’re falling… more floating. There’s so much adrenaline it’s hard to think straight. All I remember is looking down and just seeing the white of the clouds. One thing I can say for certain; is it was cold! Very cold! Above the clouds, it was -3 degrees which was a shock.
How did you feel after the skydive?
It was such an amazing experience and one that I want to do over and over so watch this space! If anyone has ever wanted to do a skydive- do it!
How much have you raised for this fantastic cause?
£1030! I never expected to raise so much!
Well done to Emily for completing this terrifying feat and raising so much money for charity!
