Work Placements – How Do They Work at Click Dealer?

We love playing host to work placement students and for almost a year now Harry and Layla have been working with our web change team – on placement from Staffordshire University.

Benefits of work placements

A year placement can have many benefits to it, it gives students a chance to “test out” a job and see if it is something they might want to progress with after university.

Being on a placement

After nearly a year of working in our web change team we asked Harry and Layla how they have found their placements so far and we can see some of those benefits above certainly shine through in what they have to say:-

“I started my university placement at Click Dealer in March 2022, starting part-time working 2 days a week, progressing to a full-time placement starting in June. Click Dealer is a great company to work for – it’s a great environment and everybody is always happy to help each other. Click has taught me a lot about web development, whilst also giving me insight into a full-time office job.

The projects or tasks I work on vary from day to day, in web change we get so many different web changes sent in each month, meaning each day when I come into work is completely different.

After my placement year, I plan to complete my final year at university and then use the skills Click Dealer has taught me to progress. Being at Click Dealer has helped me grow in confidence and I’ll miss everybody once my placement has finished.

Finally, would I recommend Click to other placement students? YES!”

“My time at Click so far has been great. Everyone is really supportive and helpful and from day one I have felt like part of the team. I study Computer Science at Staffordshire University, this placement has really helped alongside my course and has taught me many real-world and academic skills.

Every working day is different, tickets are coming in all the time with different challenges to tackle. It has definitely helped my confidence and communication skills, speaking to and building rapport with a range of dealers and working alongside my colleagues to deal with a variety of requests.

I would definitely recommend a placement at Click to any student. I am sure to take the skills I have learnt with me into my final year and I will be very sad to leave the company and all of the friends I have made!”
