Welcome back to episode 21 of Meet the Clickers!
It’s two in a week for you lucky bunch and this time around I caught up with Austin from our Tech team!
So Austin, thanks for taking part in Meet the Clickers. Could you tell me a bit about your start to Clicker life and how it came about?
“I started with Click Dealer in September, 2016 on a placement for university. I was supposed to apply for placements from the December before but had left it late. I saw the role at Click advertised with Staffs Uni and then Shaun got in touch with me for an interview and I started the next week.”
That’s great! Could you now tell us about your current role within the business?
“I currently work on our DMS as part of the maintenance team. My role involves day-to-day maintenance of the core product in order to keep the business running as usual. It is a vast piece of software and I am still finding bits of it that I’ve never heard of before.”
If you could spend the day with any celebrity, who would it be and why?
“Can’t say I particularly care for celebrities, but I’d go with Owen Wilson, just to see how many times we would both say “wow” in a day.”
Hahaha, love that one. What is your perfect pizza?
That is the first ‘wrong answer’ to any question we have ever asked, Austin. Anyway, moving on, if you could learn to do anything, what would it be?
“I think I’d learn how to fly a plane or become an astronaut. I would love to experience zero gravity someday.”
If you could only have one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
“That’s a hard choice! The rest of my life is a long time (hopefully.) I’d probably choose something like Wendy’s double stack or McDonald’s cheeseburgers, I don’t think I’d ever get bored of those.”
What is your favourite thing to spend money on?
“‘If you were going to make me choose, it would probably be video games, but my honest answer would be spending my money on nothing. Definitely prefer it in the bank.”
What are you most looking forward to in the next 10 years?
“Seeing my daughter Audrey grow up. I’d been an Uncle seven times before I became a Dad and I didn’t realise how much fun it would be. She loves to smile at everyone, possibly the happiest child I have ever met.”
What a lovely comment! You’re known in the office as Roberto Carlos, could you tell us why this is?!
“I’ve been known to score a few goals at the weekly Click football with my left-foot. I don’t think I was expected to have any football ability as a techie, but after I nearly kicked Jack’s foot off for my first goal the nickname was affectionately given.”
I must say I don’t like getting in the way of your shots haha! Finally, what do you love most about working at Click?
“We probably sound like a broken record in these Meet The Clickers, but it is an amazing company to work for, and I am very grateful to be a part of it.”
Great stuff, Austin! Once again, thanks for getting involved, I appreciate you taking time out of your day to answer the questions. To all the readers at home, we hope you enjoyed the latest installment and if you have any questions you would like us to ask then let us know in the comments! Until next time…
