5 Star Reputation – Digital Experts for Independent Dealers

4 Social Media Trends Your Dealership Should Get on Board With

To master the art of social media marketing, you need to be aware of and respond to the constantly changing trends.

Hopefully your car dealership recognises the growing importance of social media at a time when Gen Z are beginning to enter the car buying market. This generation has been brought up in a digital world and this is the way to target them.

Social media trends change rapidly, but here are three that I think car dealers should turn their attention to now.

Influencers

The biggest social media stars have acquired millions of followers and have become some of the most powerful people in the world in terms of public influence. Why? Because when people interact and relate with a social media influencer on a regular basis (even if that interaction is one-sided) they start to feel like they know them and can trust them.

Now, I’m not suggesting you attempt to befriend Kim Kardashian, but if you have anyone in your team, friends or relatives who blog, vlog or have a healthy Twitter following, see if you can get a mention.

Instagram

While Facebook still reigns as the most popular social media platform, it is not the only one your dealership should consider. Focusing on the visual, Instagram is an excellent platform on which to display images of your cars. Instagram stories are also a great opportunity to show people the fun, human side of your dealership. So, don’t limit yourself to Facebook.

 Instant Messaging

A lot of car dealers have been talking about their success in obtaining leads directly from social media lately, so instant messenger is definitely a trend to get on board with as a quick and convenient way for customers to get in touch.

Although, it is important to note that it’s not enough to just have an IM channel. If you are offering instant messaging as a way to contact your dealership, people will expect instant replies, and if they don’t get them, they may go elsewhere.

If you are too busy to man this yourself, you could look into recruiting external help. As experts in social media marketing with knowledge of how dealerships operate, Click Dealer are confident that our own social media management service will be of use to you.

Instant Messaging Bots

I have also noticed a number of car dealers using IM bots which can provide an automatic reply to frequently asked questions. It is very convenient for customers to be able to get an instantaneous answer to a simple question like ‘What time do you open?’ rather than having to call up or wait for an email response. It also saves you a job, giving you more time to do more important things.
