Trade Price Cars Gear Up For Race Three Of The BTCC Season At Thruxton

The BTCC returns for race three of the season this weekend, and next stop on the list is Thruxton Park – the fastest circuit on the calendar.

After two fantastic races from Jake Hill at Donington Park earlier this month, Trade Price Cars have been working hard to prepare themselves for this unique challenge. The track is bumpy, fast and abrasive – the teams have a huge challenge in getting the balance of the car right, tempered with drivability and consistency.

At the traditional pre-event practice session at Thruxton in Hampshire, Trade Price Cars Racing’s Jake Hill felt he had “made some real progress’ in developing the Essex-based team’s Audi S3 after a busy and challenging day.

“We ended up P11 in the morning session and learned a huge amount about the car around here. We had a technical issue that affected the car just as I started my run on new tyres, so we were really pleased with the time, and more importantly, the data we collected despite this issue,” said Hill.

“It was a little frustrating that we had some issues today – huge thanks to Rob, Stuart, Tom and the rest of the guys for all their hard work. The afternoon session didn’t give us a lap time that reflected where we are. Very confident we’ll be in good shape when we get here next month.”

Throwback Thursday

Trade Price Cars Racing couldn’t have hoped for a better start to the season so far, with driver Jake Hill reinforcing just how competitive the 2019 Edition Audi S3 is. After two superb races at Donington Park, taking two top-ten finishes despite being taken out in the opening race of the day.

Hill had made a superb start in race one when a multi-car collision resulted in him being clattered into by a spinning Ollie Jackson and forced to retire.

“I made one of my best-ever starts, and then was in clear space going into the Old Hairpin – I managed to avoid the initial carnage but then Jackson was spun into me and that was me out.”

The AmD Tuning Trade Price Cars Racing crew worked frantically to repair the Audi S3 and with just seconds to go before race two the sleek Aston Lark backed machine was ready to go.

Starting in 29th on the grid, this was going to be a real test for Hill. Remarkably he flew past 4 rivals in his first lap and during the rest of the race got himself up to 9th position – an amazing 20 places gained!

“Wow! Just incredible. Rob, Stuart, Dave, Tom, Adam and the whole AmD Tuning crew did a fantastic job to not only repair the car but give me the best handling car I think I’ve ever had! We just charged through the field; the car was amazing. Thanks, guys”
